Photoshop Tutorial: Using the Magnetic Lasso Tool
Brief Description: Magnetic lasso tool works better with high contrast images. So if you're planning to create election of an object that is not high contrast, you can always increase the contrast of a duplicate layer. create a selection and revert back to original image layer.
