Make a Realistic Tattoo

Description: Lastly i was reading a tutorial on making a realistic tattoo and i was a great one. But i forgot the url. Just today i came across this great photoshop tutorial on making a realistic tattoo. It is also as great as i was mentioning. This tattoo tutorial is from Psdtuts.com. Written by Arik. and he says:

There are lots of tutorials on the web that claim to achieve a realistic tattoo effect. Usually these tutorials instruct the user to import an image they want to use as a tattoo and to set it to overlay. Out of experience I can say that this does NOT look like a tattoo. It looks like...well...an overlayed image.

In this tutorial I will be demonstrating an advanced technique to achieve a realistic tattoo. We will be using masks, adjustment layers, displacement maps and several brushing skills will be applied.

Creative Focus with Lens Blur

Creative Focus with Lens Blur
Description: This tutorial will give you some beautiful insight on creative composition. Originally published at photoshopessentials.com. Written By Steve Patterson, who says:

In this Adobe Photoshop tutorial, we're going learn how to add creative focus to an image using Photoshop's Lens Blur filter, which has been available in Photoshop since Photoshop CS (which means you'll need Photoshop CS, CS2 or CS3 for this tutorial). When most people think of adding a blurring effect to an image in Photoshop, they immediately think of the Gaussian Blur filter, which has been around in Photoshop since the days of the dinosaurs (they used Photoshop BC back then). While Gaussian Blur is still a great filter with plenty of uses, it doesn't offer us much in terms of control over the blurring effect and usually needs to be paired up with a layer mask for it to be of any real use. Photoshop's Lens Blur filter, on the other hand, offers an incredible amount of control over the effect (more than you'll most likely ever need), and when used with an easy-to-create Depth Map, as we'll see in this tutorial, we can specify exactly how much blurring to apply to different areas of the image, giving us complete creative control over which areas are in focus and which are not.

Lighting and Shadow Tutorials

Lighting and Shadow Tutorials
Description: In this photoshop lighting tutorial we'll learn something about "Three-point-light" model, which is - according to Wikipedia - "a very common lighting technique, used in both still photography and in film". It is in fact, a classical, simple scheme to achieve a softer lighting over some scene. Using three different light sources, one can illuminate a subject (a person or some object) , and by controlling light, shading and shadows, can emulate 3D object aspect in 2D areas. The light scheme is used to model the scene, so the viewer can see the shapes, shadows, and how these objects relates to others.

Realistic Water Reflections

Realistic Water Reflections
Description: This is an awesome photoshop tutorial about adding realistic water reflection to any photograph, written By Steve Patterson at photoshopessentials.com. Personally I loved this tutorial and thats why I'm sharing this with you.

After reading thousands of photoshop tutorials , you probably know by now that there is nothing new or groundbreaking. Every tool is same. But it is the creativity that stands out at the end.

Steve, the author of this tutorial says:

In this Photoshop photo effects tutorial, we're going to learn how to easily add a realistic water reflection to any photo. It's a very easy effect to create and you can add it to any photo you like, although it tends to work best with images that don't already contain water in them.
We'll be using a simple filter and a displacement map to create the water ripple effect, and a Hue/Saturation adjustment layer to give our water a little color.

So, enjoy this fabulous tutorial.

Turn Day into Night

Brief Description: Recently i was involved in a low budget photoshoot. It was for a clothing company's winter collection. The entire shoot was done inside a studio in middle of hot summer. Then I've to Photoshop the photograph as if models were posing at a ski resort. Only real life object involved other than models was skying accessories.

That time i was looking for a tutorial for something like that. I found some.

This is not exactly that but this also teaches us how to change the entire enviroment. I found this Photoshop 7 tutorial very interesting. This is also a good exercise for practicing color correction and brightness contrast part of a photograph.

Photoshop Tutorial: Matte Painting by Sebastien Gaucher

Brief Description: This is super tutorial by great matte painter Sebastien Gaucher. About this tutorial in his words:

"This tutorial is actually a "making of" where I explain how I proceeded to achieve this matte painting. I use a Wacom Intuos² A4 board, if you don't have any graphic board this is going to be hard but not impossible. At each step of the matte painting, useless to remind you to create a new layer so that the work will be easier and mistakes avoided !"

Photoshop Tutorial: Create Photo Realistic Drop Shadows By Mapping Them To Your Image

Create Photo Realistic Drop Shadows By Mapping Them To Your Image
Brief Description: Let's face it, Photoshop's built-in drop shadow effect has it's limitations. It's fine for basic shadow effects, like making text appear to be raised slightly off the background on a web page, but if you're after something more photo realistic, the drop shadow on its own doesn't cut it.
With a little help though, we can turn those plain, uninteresting drop shadows into something much more realistic looking by "mapping" our shadows onto the image using what's called a displacement map.
